Illegal Procedure

Brett Favre’s assertion that the 2009 Vikings are a better team than the 1996 Packers has raised the ire of several people who played on that team. Tight end Mark Chmura doesn’t even attempt a diplomatic tone:

They have Adrian Peterson, but I think Chester Taylor is a guy. We had Dorsey (Levens) and Edgar, that’s pretty good balance. Our tight ends were clearly better (laughs). I may be biased. But seriously, sure America saw his [penis] on TV, but how many teenagers has Visanthe (Shiancoe) raped? How many child enticements has (Jim) Kleinsasser successfully blamed on an ill-fitting swimsuit? Come on, those guys can’t hold a candle to us.

Chmura has a point. When it comes to sexual assault of juveniles, the 2009 Vikings aren’t even in the same league as the 1996 Packers. In fact, if we broaden our scope to consider garden-variety domestic abuse, the 2009 Vikings can’t even touch the 2009 Packers, whose recent signing of three-time NFL wifebeating champ Ahman Green puts them in serious contention for the 2009 battering title.

Judd Zulgad is one of my favorite NFL beat writers. However, he certainly knows how to twist the knife.

I have never even entertained the thought of wanting McNabb to leave Philadelphia. I don’t know anybody who wants this. I only know who Kevin Kolb is because you’ve shown him more than McNabb during the f*#king game. The only people who’ve discussed it are Mike Tirico, Tony Kornheiser, and expert Charles Barkley.

Oh wait, what am I saying? Of course! I really want the Eagles to ditch McNabb for a once and a future career backup! Thanks for reminding me!

Here’s a poorly written article documenting the rushing supremacy of the AFC West. This highlights a point I’ve been making since before the season started: the AFC West is the best division in the NFL. The NFC East was looking pretty good until the Redskins, Eagles, and Cowboys were all exposed. Now the AFC West reigns supreme.

I don’t think any individual team has the ability to topple the mighty Colts, but this is a tough bunch of teams, and 2 or possibly even 3 of them will be in the playoffs. The division games over the next few weeks should prove very interesting.
