Arbitration, Set, Go!!!

Thursday, November 17th, 2005 by Eben the Goat

Well, I think we all here at IP.com are eagerly awaiting the arbitration hearing set for tomorrow concerning our favorite player. I must admit, it’s a bit pathetic when Jeremiah Trotter states, “We would love to have T.O. back.” Clearly this is a team that is realizing its season is over.

Well, wait, now that I think about it, we here at IP.com aren’t really that anxious about it. Bald Prediction of the Week #1: T.O. will stay with the Eagles, will not play again this year, and will not return to the team next season. I think everyone in the Eagles camp realizes that if McNabb has the surgery everyone is recommending the season is a wash anyway. Fantasy players, just let him go, don’t fill up that roster spot, even as tempting as it might be . . .

Rumor: Holt injury worse than advertised

Friday, November 11th, 2005 by Gus

The word on the street is that Torry Holt‘s sprained PCL is actually a torn PCL. Although the Rams are painting a pretty picture about Holt’s condition, local radio stations in St. Louis is reporting that Holt is likely done for the year. I would take this one with a grain of salt- Holt himself seems confident he will play on Sunday, but these reports are disturbing.

And where the hell is Isaac Bruce?

The only good news for St. Louis fans appears to be that Marc Bulger is back in action, and the Rams’s backup receivers, especially Kevin Curtis, continue to perform well.

Priest put on IR

Priest Holmes has been put on the injured reserve list. If I were Priest, I would do the same thing, no matter how much Dick Vermeil trivialized my “burners”. Hey, it may feel like paralysis, but don’t worry, it doesn’t last very long.

I hate to say I told you so. If you are a Priest fantasy owner, I hope you handcuffed Larry Johnson in your league–he’s going to be a top 5 running back for the rest of the season.

Rumor Watch: Priest Done?

Sunday, November 6th, 2005 by Gus

According to our inside sources*, Priest Holmes may be finished for the season. Holmes apparently hasn’t been the same since suffering a shoulder injury in the first game against Oakland. He has been experiencing numbness after hard hits, and after a helmet-to-helmet collison with Shawne Merriman last week, Priest saw a spine specialist in Califorina (registration/BugMeNot required).

The Chiefs announced today that Priest will definitely not play. And from what we’re hearing, he’s so concerned about further damage that he is seriously considering hanging it up. For a superstar in the twilight of his career, with a successor waiting in the wings and a likely coaching change next season, it would make more sense for him to retire, rather than coming back next year.

We’d be sorry to see him go–Priest has always been a great player and a class act.

* Our inside sources consist of some guy on a message board who claims to know Priest’s agent’s personal assistant. Dubious? Probably. Hey, cut us a break, we’re just getting started. We’re not exactly Mike Florio here.
